Tu-Ikeda Dialogue Published in Japan


TOKYO, Japan: Publisher Daisanbunmeisha has released a Japanese edition of a dialogue between Tu Weiming, Professor of Chinese History and Philosophy and of Confucian Studies at Harvard University, and Daisaku Ikeda. Their collaborative work, Taiwa no bunmei-heiwa no kibo tetsugaku o kataru (Toward a Civilization of Dialogue-Discussions on a Hope-filled Philosophy for Peace--tentative translation), focuses on the contributions of Confucianism and Buddhism to the evolution of modern humanism. Prof. Tu, who is also the director of the Harvard-Yenching Institute, was as appointed by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to be a member of the Group of Eminent Persons which facilitates its Dialogue Among Civilizations program in 2001.
