Dialogue with Russian Cosmonaut Serebrov

A dialogue between cosmonaut Alexander Serebrov and Daisaku Ikeda published in Hangul

SEOUL, Korea: Korean News Press has released a Hangul edition of Uchu to chikyu to ningen (tentative translation: "The Cosmos, Earth and Human Beings"), a dialogue between Russian cosmonaut Alexander Serebrov and Daisaku Ikeda.

Originally a physicist, Professor Serebrov was involved in the launch of the Mir space station. He made four flights onboard the Soyuz spacecraft and conducted a record ten space walks during 373 days in space. As president of Soyuz, the All-Russia Youth Aerospace Society, he has also been engaged in educating children about space and the environment.

Professor Serebrov and Mr. Ikeda first met in Tokyo in October 2000. They continued discussions on scientific and Buddhist perspectives on the universe, the Earth and human beings, resulting in a serialized dialogue published in Ushio, a Japanese monthly literary magazine. First published in hardcover in Japanese by Ushio Publishers in 2004, a Russian edition followed in 2006.
