Radhakrishnan-Ikeda Dialogue Published in Taiwan
Traditional Chinese edition of Jindo no seiki e: Ganji to Indo no tetsugaku o kataru (tentative English title: Toward a Humane Century: Gandhi and Indian Philosophy)
TAIPEI, Taiwan: Publisher Cheng Yin Culture Enterprise has released a traditional Chinese edition of Jindo no seiki e: Ganji to Indo no tetsugaku o kataru (tentative English translation: Toward a Humane Century: Gandhi and Indian Philosophy), a dialogue between Dr. N. Radhakrishnan, chairman of the Indian Council of Gandhian Studies, India, and Daisaku Ikeda. In their work, the authors explore the philosophical legacy of India, the contributions it has made over the ages to nonviolence through individuals such as King Ashoka and Mahatma Gandhi, and its influence on modern peace and human rights movements.
A renowned scholar of Gandhian studies and a social activist, Dr. Radhakrishnan first met Mr. Ikeda in September 1986. Their dialogue was originally published in Japan as a serial in the monthly education magazine Todai from February 2006 to April 2007, and released as a hardcover edition in January 2009.
This new, traditional Chinese edition was translated by Professor Liu Kun-huei of Taiwan’s Chinese Culture University.
