Malay Edition of Global Civilization
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: The Federation of National Writers Associations of Malaysia (GAPENA) recently released a Malay edition of Global Civilization: A Buddhist-Islamic Dialogue, coauthored by Dr. Majid Tehranian, who was professor of international communication at University of Hawai'i, and Daisaku Ikeda. In their endeavor to discover and explore common ground across religious traditions and civilizations, the authors also discuss universal human rights, the mutual flourishing of cultures and peaceful coexistence in the modern world.
Born in Iran, Dr. Tehranian served as the first director of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research, a think tank founded by Mr. Ikeda, from 1996 to 2008. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard University, Dr. Tehranian published more than 20 books, including Dialogue of Civilizations: A New Peace Agenda for a New Millennium and Bridging a Gulf: Peacebuilding in West Asia, and some 100 articles in over a dozen languages. He passed away in December 2012.
The dialogue is also available in Japanese, English, French, Italian, Thai, Arabic, Persian, Dutch, Indonesian and traditional Chinese.
