Mr. Ikeda is a great friend of South Korea. He insists that Japan is profoundly indebted to our country and her culture, and seeks to build a bilateral relationship that looks to the future through a proper accounting of our tragedy-marred past. Driven by the belief that peace on Earth for all humankind must be realized, moreover, he has worked tirelessly so that the world may overcome the conflict and enmity that has haunted us throughout history.
