Essay Anthology Intimate Talks with Global Pioneers Published in Simplified Chinese
Hunan Normal University Press, China, has published a simplified Chinese edition of Watashi no sekai koyu-roku (Intimate Talks with Global Pioneers--tentative translation), an anthology of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's essays.
The Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper group in Japan originally published the anthology, which featured essays on renowned figures in peace and human rights activism, politics, culture and the arts, education and other fields with whom Mr. Ikeda has met and exchanged views over nearly four decades. Among the individuals the author has written about are former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai, two-time Nobel laureate Dr. Linus Pauling, former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, American civil rights hero Rosa Parks, and former South African President Nelson Mandela. The new Chinese edition was translated by Professor Bian Liqiang of the Shanghai International Studies University, who has also translated other works and dialogues by Mr. Ikeda, including Dawn After Dark, The Flower of Chinese Buddhism, Watashi no rirekisho (My Recollections), Jinsei sho (Maxims on Life--tentative translation) and Jinsei mondo (Dialogue on Life--tentative translation, a dialogue between SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Konosuke Matsushita (1894-1989), founder of Matsushita Electric.
